The first word that pops into my head everytime I see Sean post a knife is "clean." Reminds me very much of the Ed Chavar Monocacy I owned for a long time (and stared at because it was too nice to use!). My only criticism whatsoever is the lack of a lanyard hole. It wouldn't bother me personally as is, but if it's really made to be used around water, the prospect if dropping it and having it sink to God only knows where may turn off the prospective buyer.

Thanks guys.

Steve - Ya know I never thought of a lanyard with this knife, you are right that is something I need to look at for it given it's intended use. I will start playing around with the design after Blade.

Thanks,
Sean

Sean, with the good looks of that knife a hidden lanyard hole might be the way to go.

Cool knife! Looking forward to checking out your wares in Atlanta. BTW, how thick were those G-10 slabs, were they just 1/4"?

Shappa, that's an even better idea! The thing about these bushcraft type knives is they have to be made for comfort and long use in a variety of hand positions. I just got a BRKT Northstar and it's a great knife, although aesthetically I don't like the tab at the end of the blade for the lanyard. They probably did that to keep the cord off the handle, though, which makes a lot of sense. This knife of Sean's looks like 1/8" thick steel, though, so drilling through the tang for a hidden hole would be tough (unless I'm thinking about the wrong way to do it). I put lanyard holes on most of my knives because most people seem to use them, but I personally don't care. If I was in a real backcountry situation or really using the knife around heights/water, though, I would definitely strap that knife to my wrist!

Very nice Sean, I really like the green/back G10 scales. Nice site you have too.

Yeah, a lanyard with one of those little orange neoprene float thingies on it :)

Then the only thing you have to worry about is catching it as shoots down the rapids without you after punching a hole in your inflatable boat when dropped :)

I like the design. And I like the fact you used G-10.

I too would say that it would benefit from a lanyard hole - however, I would add that a small finger guard might be helpful on a knife designed to be used when wet...

I like it as is though :)

Thanks for the ideas guys!

Ya I think a lanyard that is unobtrusive is a good idea. I will play around with the hidden lanyard idea. The other thing I could do is put a lanyard hole in the middle of the back of the tang and just notch out the center of the back of the scales. That might avoid the paracord from getting in the way of your grip. I will definitely look at the hidden lanyard idea first though.

The steel stock is 1/8" and the scales started out as 1/4". The scales are a little thinner than that now, somewhere between 3/16" and 1/4". I really like G10, it works very well, much nicer to work with than micarta in my opinion.
