I have alternately marveled and salivated over the photos of the CRK models from years ago that feature Bill Burke's River of Fire Damascus. Truly works of art -- just amazing. Having resigned myself to the fact that the chances of ever owning one of those beauties is slim to none, I was pleasantly surprised recently to come across a Slipjoint Trapper by Burt Flanagan featuring Bill Burke River of Fire Damascus. Not a CRK, I know, but I thought it might be of general interest in light of the River of Fire discussions that happen here from time to time. So, here is another example:

(Incidentally, the bolsters are "Wasp Nest" Damascus from Chris Marks).

It is, IMO, one of the most beautiful patterns there is.
Now sometimes I do feel, also personal opinion only, the flow is in the wrong direction. Ricasso to tip seems naturally correct, when the flow is tip to ricasso it seems off.
