Rivet Problems

I used some of the two-color rivets with the stainless screw and the brass collars.

As you can see, there is:

1. An uneven space between the stainless and the brass, due, I think, to the fact that the threads must run at an angle to work.

2. The faces will not take an even polish. No matter how or at what angle they remain part polished and part dull.

I spent more than two hours trying everything I coould think of- all to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance,

win, those are loveless bolts. i use them on 90% of my knives. for the spaces powder some of the nut or the bolt. not both. mix with slow cure super glue and pack it into the gaps let dry 24hrs and then sand off the extra so it is flush again. then 600grit paper backed with thick leather. finally then buff with white compound. good luck! and tell me how it turns out!

Try sratchless pink compound (About the same as the White Stuff) Load up a loose buff. And then try buffing it. Might sound strange but the more compound you use the better it works. Clean your buff. Keep adding it untill it is slinging off the wheel. That worked well for me many times.
