Rivet replacement for CS Kudu?

Has anyone removed and reinstalled the backspring on a Cold Steel Kudu in the course of modding one? If so, what did you replace the rivet with?

Also, is that rivet under a dangerous amount of tension?

Had to google it, didn't know the kudu was just an okapi with a different name.

On Okapis people have used brad nails before and just clipped off the excess and peened over the cut end. Forget where I read that, but its similar to how to repair a pivot on an Opinel.

I haven't done it yet. I want to remove the backspring and round off the sharp edges, then reinstall it.
