My EDC neck sheath has rivets that were originally coated black. Over time the coating has been rubbed off by contact with fabric and skin. This leaves the brass rivets really shiny. Not what I prefer on an otherwise all-dark rig.
Does anyone make rivets that I could retrofit to the sheath that are made of a black metal (if there is such a thing) or that are coated with something more permanent than the standard "paint"? I daresay that cold bluing would wear off pretty quickly given the constant contact/polishing and skin oils & salts.
It would be interesting to know if the boron-nitride coating (discussed in a long thread somewhere here on BFC) would work for this or if the bending of the rivet lip would remove the coating due to breakdown of the bond or perhaps by scratching. Anyone have any info on that aspect of the BN coating perhaps?
TIA,
Greg
