I received a Buck 120 the other day." !963-1967 single line , 4 hard fibre spacers and pin thru side of pommel"
The odd thing I found about this knife is the leather sheath. "Buck" stamped on the snap only once. Buck stamped into the leather flap just above the snap. Which I think is up to par, however at the toe end of the leather where the tip of the blade would sit when installed into the sheath there is two metal rivets holding the leather edges together for inforcement and one metal rivet on the other end at the corner where the stiched side meets also for reinforcement. Stitching is not of the "railroad type of stitch"
Are these metal rivets a normal or an after market sort of upgrade, is there anyone out there who can elaborate. Thanks Tony.
Ps I would send a picture only I do not know how to do that yet.

Thats common in the early sheaths. Because Buck didn't make the sheaths, we find different things on some sheaths that fit into the same time lines. I have a few that have the rivets as well.

At least now I know I am not the only one and that this situation with the rivets was not done out of the blue by just one guy with an idea to make his own improvements. Here again though this may be a means where a collector could use such info to differentiate say between a 1961 or 1962 buck 120 or even say to define properly between 1963 thru to 1967 each individual Buck general 120? The plot thickens . Probably best off to keep all my sheaths together with boxes and knives for future reference.
