I suppose that this should go under the review section, but since RJ Martin's knives are custom, I thought I post it here. At any rate here goes. (I can't believe I misspelled his name in the title!!!!!)

Have to preface this with saying that I got a #1 Kozuka from Les Roberston, our moderator here, and cannot possibly be more pleased with the service! He was ultra helpful and prompt, let me change my mind about the model (mini-kozuka as opposed to Kozuka) and even sent it to me free.

Okay, I did pay for it, but Les was as understanding as ANY knife dealer I have ever come across. Yep, this is a shameless plug for Les, and he deserves it. On to the knife...

#1 Kozuka came with an ITWB and a neck sheath. If you are like me, you are constantly looking for a blade that does its job just a little better than the other fifty knives you have that you bought for the same purpose. The Kozuka is the final stop in my search for a ITWB daily carry knife.

One of the main advantages of this knife is that it comes with a practical sheath system. Both the beck and ITWB sheaths are carbon fiber wrapped mahogany, imbedded with rare earth magnets. This combination makes for a thin, smooth against your body, smooth drawing sheath with excellant retention with out having to pull on the knife with both hands. How many Kydex sheaths are either too tight or too loose? In my experience almost all are some failing.

The blade is almost full profile except for the last 1/8 inch near the tip, and makes for a strong spine and tip. The best part, it came SHARP! Now you would expect that all "custom" knives would come with a good edge, but it my experience not all of them do. Grind lines are near perfect, but not the laser straight lines associated with CNC grinding.

Worth the money folks, especially if you just buy one sheath! 245 USD, a bargain really, if you consider the knife and a lifetime of service.

Speaking of which I called Mr. Martin to inquire about a Kozuka initially from him, and he was super helpful and seemed totally pleased to talk to a customer. Answered all my quesitions are was legitimately concerned that I was satisfied.

I have 2 of RJ's knives, they both came through Les. All I can do is second everything you said about both of these guys!

And the good news is, you haven't had it long enough to let it grow on you yet. Mine has become my favorite knife.
I never thought I had any use for a fixed blade until I handled one of RJ's Kwaikens.
I have the mini, and can't wait to get the Kozuka.

Anyone have a picture of this knife that they can post? It sounds interesting...

A Kozuka has forced the retirement of a Trace Rhindaldi Shartooth and LUK, both outstanding knives in their own right, not to mention a whole lot cheaper. IMHO is the Kozuka worth the extra 150? YES.

Ditto on his great work, and he is the nicest custom maker I've ever dealt with on the phone and in email, too.
