I've had my fill of power hammers lately in this forum. Time to fire up the CNC.... ;)

RJ Martin is reknowned for his 'scary sharp' knives, his rock-solid folders, his single-purpose fixed blades, and his blade grinding abilities. I have always been a fan of Randy's work.

When the Rampage series came out he rocked the house. I always wanted one, but I wanted a taste of something different, too. This one we discussed well over a year ago, as I coerced RJ to come up with something extra special on a Dress Rampage.

RJ suggested the pistaccio wood, as he's had that awaiting a special project, and I wanted him to explore filework again. Him being the CNC wizard that he is, came up with something especially clever--for both the filework AND the scales.

He covered the Kydex sheath with leather, and the inside is lined with moleskin so it wouldn't scar the hand-rubbed blade. (Its a special steel that I don't remember the name, but he was really pleased with the results.)

Anyway, I'll start with this one. I have a bunch of OTHER traditional Rampages he sent me to photograph also. I'll add them in a bit later. You are going to LIKE them! But... this is enough for now.....

Err, WOW! Can't say I ever considered the thought of a dress Rampage, but I'm glad you did Coop. That one is outstanding.

Wow, I never thought I'd be saying this about you, Coop. But, you suck! :)

Jim- The lighting on those grinds is just amazing. Great knife, Nasty looking. What a challenge to show it off in a photo, and you hit it out of the park...Best, Rich

I love the Rampage (fixed and folding) and this is the best I have seen. Well done Coop, and congrats to RJ for raising the bar.

Cheers,

Stephen

The sheath itself is a work of Art,the other guys have pretty much covered anything I could say about this amazing knife.
Jim,you ROCK THE HOUSE! :)

 I really like RJ's stuff and that is one of the nicest I have seen. Very good looking wood on that as well. Very nice.

I want to thank all you guys for your props. This HAS been a fun commission. (RJ's notes say that my blade is CPM 154CM, and he will give you the particulars on that intricate blade finish.)

I mentioned I had more to tempt you. RJ sent me a number of current Rampage models. I took the liberty of exploring different shots and layouts. You should notice the blades on these are just under 4" (about 3/4" shorter than mine) which would make them legal to carry in most locales.

There is a lot of milling going on around here! I suspect the NYC show in two weeks will be VERY successful.... :)

Guys: Thanks for your comments and thanks, Coop for making my knives look better than they are!

Coop's rampage was a challenge, because he said "I don't want a typical Rampage...Make it different". So, after about 6 different ideas, I settled on the final schene you see here. The CPM154CM was great to work with-It is truly knifemaker friendly, and I only had to do the hand rubbed finish 3 times before I was happy with it. I am not typically a "hand rubbed guy", so, I did some learning by experimentation. The final finish was produced by first rubbing with 600 grit SIC paper, then gone over with the 3M yellow mesh AlO paper, which softened the look to where I liked it.
The filework was a last minute inspiration, and I like the look of being able to see right through the tang to the other side. Machining the fully hardened blade was a little nerve wracking, but it worked fine in the end.

The pictures Coop just posted are of my new, 3.9" blade length Rampage. I had many requests for a "legal to carry" blade length, so, I finally did it.
The fluted scales are a lot of fun to machine, and you can see the different looks you get with different materials.

Anyway, thanks again for your positive comments-It is always fun to put something new out for comment, and, Coop's pictures are always a treat.

Hand made, cnc, custom, leather, kydex, forged, stock removal........who gives a shit.

Bottom line badass looking knives............I would love to own one.
