RJ Martin vs Todd Rexford

Tie? I really like them both.

The only knife I own by either designer is a ZT0801 but I really like Martin's style too, especially now that he's seemed to have moved away from the nightmare-type grinds he was doing a few years ago. He makes an elegant knife now.

The 0606 (and the 0609 to a lesser extent because it's smaller) has a really appealing profile and overall design. Both are really excellent at designing knives. I'd give Rexford the lead for Utilitarian and Martin the lead for Style.

I like both, but after spending a lot of time with the 0801TI and the 0609 I think I'd lean Rexford, at least in terms of design, aesthetics, and function overall. I think Martin has better blades in some ways (definitely better sharpening choils and somewhat better slicers), but his style is a bit more on the gaudy and elaborate side, where Rexfords is more streamlined, minimalistic, and sterile. I just sort of favor that sort of style I think.

Lately I've really been toying with trying to find a 0808 again. That's another often overlooked Rexford gem.

Martin, because the 0609 is amazing. If the 0808 had .12” blade thickness, that would be my favorite from either, I’d probably own 2+ copies, and it would likely be about all I would carry.
