I used the search function to look for the type of steel used in the RL-2 Schade/Loveless knife made in the 1970s. A couple of folks stated it was 154cm but never cited their source of this info. The add copy with the knife mentions a special steel but heck that could mean anything.
If anyone knows the for sure what steel was used I would like to hear.
Thanks !

Good question! Good luck finding an answer.. Ken.

Thanks for the link. Looks like it's not a sure known fact.

Had to rejoin this forum. I guess I was inactive for too long.

I searched 154CM in this forum and got a hit. Walter Gardiner told A.G. Russell that the blade steel was 154CM. RL2 info

The orignal source link is dead but the bladeforums post remains.

"Dear A.G.:
Here is the information requested:
Schrade manufactured 4,000 RL2 Schrade Loveless knives between 1975 and
1977. The blade steel was 154CM, the handle was made with solid brass
escutcheons fastened with custom tapered rivets and a solid brass guard.
I would not use this knife for everyday chores, especially if the owner has
all the original paperwork. While we don't estimate value, at last years
Blade Show one in fair condition without paperwork sold for $300.00. We
receive many emails about this knife it seems collectors love them.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
W.A.G."

The Pro Hunter had custom tapered rivers.
I believe the RL-2 used brass and stainless steel nuts and bolts [bird's eyes]
I have some of these fasteners. Ken
