Is the RMD just a smaller M6? Does anyone have a comparison pic handy?

I seem to see LOTS of people giving big love to their RMDs but don't see much about the M6- is this just because the M6s are old news, or is the RMD that much better a knife?

Thanks for your help, Mike

I've got both, and I don't think it would be accurate to say that the RMD is a smaller version of the M6. The M6 is larger, thicker, heavier, and is differentially heat treated. I'll try to post pics later -- the wife took the camera to the zoo today. :o

I'd even categorize them differently. To me, the M6 falls into the small end of the Camp Knife category and the RMD falls into large end of the EDC/Utility Knife category. I recognize, of course, that the distinction between those categories is HIGHLY subjective. But if both knives were sitting on a table and someone told me to grab my Camp Knife, the M6 is the one I'd reach for. :)

That's a good question. Here. Perhaps this will help:

I think in some ways the argument can definitely be made that the RMD is a smaller M6. I do see a little bit of a difference in the handle design, and the belly, and of course length/thickness/width/heaviness, etc., but they look fairly similar in overall design.

The RMD, though, seems to be bit more of a usable size for lots of things, and feels like less of a tank in my hand.

Another difference: The RMD is available.

So if you're hungering for one, I'd jump on it.

+1. Get that RMD! You will NOT regret it, I guarantee!

If you DO regret it, just let me know and I'll take it off your hands for what you paid. I can always use another...
