I had the chance to introduce Bill Burke's work here several months ago. He did a Scagel styled knife that was as pretty a knife as I've ever seen. I got an e-mail from Bill last night with a picture of a knife set he did for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation national banquet held in Reno NV. and I just had to share them with you.

The blades are all 52100, handles are Elk, Mule deer and Whitetail from the mountains where Bill lives. The set sold on Friday.

There is something in those knives that you can't see: state of the art performance. Bill Burke has been working closely with Ed Fowler for the last three years experimenting with different batches of 52100, edge geometry and heat-treatment techniques to reduce grain size and improve carbide distribution in their never ending search for the ultimate in blade performance. Those knives should be outstanding users as well as being drop dead gorgeous. Thanks for sharing that pic PhilL!

Thank you for the kind remarks about the set. Paracelsus is correct the performance is in there. Does any one think that the knives will actually be used? I would hope so but doubt it.
