I've been thinking about getting a Eagle Talon and was wondering how they stack up against other hawks.

Does anybody have any experience with RJM or their Eagle Talon hawk??

How does the Eagle Talon compare to the American Tomahawk Next Generation Ranger Spike Tomahawk????????

I can't give you a direct comparison between the two specific pieces, Shrike, but you can't go wrong with either. I have one of Ryan's rasp hawks, a Plains War Hatchet, and an ATC LaGana hawk with a Next Gen haft. I love 'em both. I also got the opportunity to handle a Next Generation Ranger Spike at the recent NYCKS & it is sweet.

As you probably know already both of the hawks you are considering are modern interpretations of early American styles. The Eagle Talon follows the lines of Ryan's Mohawk model, a spike style popular in the NE US. The Next Generation Ranger Spike Tomahawk, naturally, is modeled after the Rogers' Rangers Spike Hawk.

Maybe your question shouldn't be which you should get, but rather which you should get first. ;)

Geezzzzzzz what a middle of the road opnion;) ;) Just wish I could afford to get both and then misuse and abuse them.

The ATC looks like the handle would be better in snow and cold, but then again it might just freez and shatter. I've been known to be outside working at -65F.

Guess I'll just go wander around hopelessly looking for a PB&B on rye with dill chips:p :p
