I have a few questions about these two models. I have a Jenny on order and have owned a shrike in the past. I'm thinking about getting a kestrel feather. I know these two models are designed as anti personnel with breaching secondary. How much breaching can these things take? Are we talking just edge deformation or they just don't breach well? Any one use one for breaching purposes? First hand accounts. I really appreciate any help. This forum has a wealth of knowledge.

I pretty sure it's just based on the size because of leverage and weight. The steel doesn't really deform it's amazing to watch the video of him (Ryan the maker) chopping into solid concrete with the talon and the edge doest chip or anything which the talon is just a longer version of the kestrel. Hope this helps

i have both. its dependant on the primary grind. the jenny is ground much thinner over all, both will do some mild breaching. i have put my jenny through hell and back, its one tough hawk. you wont break it. but the feather will handle more without edge deformation, just depends what your cutting through, both will go through a vehilcle. i have thrown, and chopped dam near everything with my jenny, and all ive done is scuff it and dent the edge a little, awesome products.

I appreciate the responses. What about lock breaking? I know the kestrel will...what about the Jenny Wren spike shape any one ever tested this. Obviously it wasn't designed for that but if it were pushed into service for that. Thanks again for the help.

The Jenny Wren spike is not of the shape that would "fit" into the area to break a lock. On its great points are concealability, handling, and shorter overall. I have both as well as a Kestrel (Have had several Shrikes) and the Jenny gets to go out more often than any have. I would not feel under equipped with any of them and personal preference will tell you alot.
