I opted for a #28 with Nickel Silver hilt, so I had to wait a little longer than others. Well, it arrived yesterday. I ordered it from authorized RMK dealer Gary Clinton (aka, Clinton Knives) in early November of last year. I chose the Green Micarta handle, and paid $20 extra for a black sheath.

Here she is:

Ken, that's a sharp looking #28. I may just have to order one with the green micarta handle and nickle silver hilt. I sure wish it was available with the new white handle material.

Nice pictures. I did some trading at the Blade show and picked up the same setup except mine has the brown sheath. I bought a factory second sheath with which I'm going to waterproof and use as my field sheath. This is going to be a user.
I have a model 16 which is also a user. Although the model 28 is not a "dive knife" is there any reason why it would not work on occasional "wet" operations?

The 28 was still in the paper wrap from the factory and I had to open it because the dealer would not- there is an interesting story on the origin and transaction if anyone cares. . .

The knife should hold up just fine. The sheath . . . not so much.

Agreed, yet I bet Greg would make you a waxed version if you could stand the several month wait without your newest baby...

I will probably hold off with the waterborne activities until I'm set up right.
Thanks

Is this knife a little handle heavy – center of gravity rearward of the hilt? It looks like the full tang might make it feel that way.

Absolutely beautiful knife!
Has anyone noticed that lately the nickel silver seems to have more of a yellow cast to it? I've noticed this with a couple of mine over the past two or three years...

Steve, yes, much more yellow these days...remember from recent emails, I had to pull multiple knives out into the bright sunlight to compare old vs. new to make a determination. To my old eyes, the newer NS looks much more like new brass than in the past...

I have a #27 and I think it is a nickle silver hilt but it also looks like brass depending on the lighting. The but cap is definitely brass so I don't understand why it would have a nickle silver hilt as most people would order nickle silver but cap as well. But the hilt is very light colored it is very deceiving in looks. I picked it up second hand and love the knife it has field dressed the last 2 deer I got.Is there a definite way to tell if it is brass or nickle silver?

I've never seen a "mismatched" 27; don't think such a thing exists. If the center spacer (in the middle of the red ones) is aluminum, the hilt and butt plate are brass. If it's brass, the furniture is N/S. If it has a #25 handle on it, disregard the foregoing.

I decided to take photos of my #28 with a Black Micarta handle (and Nickel Silver hilt) this morning:
