Brad, I think that was a good buy. I have given more for that model. With the swivel sheath and black micarta. DM

I have heard of that model with maroon mic arta. But not held one. Don't know how many came out of the factory like that but they are not easy to find. DM
 
Looking at my model history sheets on your era knife. It looks like this recent one you purchased came before the maroon micarta offering. But certainly all them are 1973. DM

Yes, David, the Buck records are suggesting this. But I had a Maroon Micarta with stainless steel guard and pommel. Wrong time frame? I didn’t keep it and traded it for a Maroon 106 hatchet some years ago. :( May be I have a photo.

Habbie, I just checked mine with a magnet. It is like Brad's, black micarta, square handle and swivel sheath. The magnet would not attach. DM
