Roadhouse question-I need some insight

I've been lusting after the Roadhouse for some time now and have not yet pulled the trigger. I've mostly had Benchmade knives with a few other brands like Hogue, Spyderco, and a few odds and ends thrown in. I've done all my research, heard the good and bad, and really had decided on the regular size Roadhouse with stonewashed finish. I then saw the Jungle Mini Roadhouse BT...I REALLY like the looks of it. My questions: How do those who have the mini like it compared with the full size, and how does the black finish hold up. I will use the knife but most of my hard use that would be done by a knife of that size will be left to the Grip...I know the Emerson could handle it, but the Grip is already beat to hell. I'm most interested in the black finish wear issue because my Adamas' finish has not held up great and that is my only reference.

I think the finish is DLC (diamond-like coating, or diamond-like carbon) and is very durable. The stuff itself is indestructible, but the bonding to the blade might not be. Anyway, the "used" look is in now. Some companies (ZT) even pre-stonewash the black blades for you.

It's a "Spray and Bake" finish and not particularly durable in my experience. That being said I prefer the black finish and think it looks good as it wears but if it concerns you there's always stone wash.

I didn't know that, thanks. Always assumed it was DLC. Anyway, nothing wrong with the used look. Apparently some people acid wash their Sebenzas so they look like they've been rolling around in a junk pile for 50 years. YMMV.

It holds up fairly well but definitely shows scratches and wear faster than the stone washed finishes do.

If this is of any use to you... I just got my knife back from getting a factory edge put back on it. I've used it a lot and taken into some very unpleasant places. It's about 13 years old. The finish on it has definitely taken some wear, but then there is a reason for that. It's a green finish - not black like you are looking for, but I figure the Emerson protective coating is the Emerson protective coating so it might be a point of reference you can use.
