Hi, can anybody tell me if there is Rob Linger's site where one can see his knives?
Also, if anyone ordered him Wilderness Survival Knife how much did it cost?

If it's Roger Linger you're looking for he's mostly on the shop talk forum and goes by rlinger. simply do a search.

That would be me. elvenbladesmith07 got the web address correct. Just go to bottom of home page and click on the knives link. I no longer do rifle stock work and would not consider myself a gunsmith.

Sorry for mistaking your name.

And how much does Wilderness Survival Knife/Tracker made by you cost?

Hi AlexMC, drop me an email (you can find my email address by clicking on my user name above). I will be most happy to answer all questions you may have. I prefer not to appear to be conducting business here on Shop Talk. I am sure you can understand why.

No problemo on mistaking the name. Sometimes that can be to my advantage :D.

Thanks.

eleven, I discontinued that shortly after getting into knife making. I have a 10/22 custom I got all the way to finish shaping the stock and have not gone any further with it since making my first knife. Don't know if I will ever finish it. It shoots great though; just the stock is rough. Now that I am full time I have not even been able to find time to make a knife for myself. Turkey season begins here in about four weeks and I am religated to carrying a store bought.

well if you read the practical tactical threads, youll know im trying to get my hands on a kar98 to restore, and mount a period scope on it. thinking about the medina gun show, my agricultural science teacher go one there for $125. next time im in west virginia ill look ya up and we can turkey on my uncle wade's land down there :D( ive seen some big ones squackin in the woods back there ;) ) , and maybe you can teach me a thing or to about knifemaking! ;)

Well elven I don't know if could teach anyone a thing or two about knife making. My equipment and shop is very modest and my knife making is only almost 3 years. The 98 is a fine action to customize. Good luck on it and if asked I would suggest not going inexpensive on materials, such as wood stock and etc..

oh come on roger give yourself some credit! you made a WSK for god's sake! and a incredible one at that!
so what is wrong with wooden stocks? i should problly listen to you, but i like the look of the original wooden stock alot. i think it also looks cooler. basically im making this thing into a ww2 german snipers rifle. this rifle aint gunna be put through nothing much, freindly shooting matches, light hunting, shooting chucks in the neighboring cornfields, and for a little ww2 living history. you still think a wooden stock inadequate?
just wondering, would you happen to know a place to get period scopes?
thanks for you suggestions roger, you know alot more about guns than i do. i know how to strip a gun, finish the metal and stock, and minor troubleshooting, thats about it. i dont even know what a floated barrel is! besides an oil barrel floating in lake erie, im lost!

elven,

I must have written that poorly (sorry). What I ment to convey was I would suggest not going inexpensive on materials and that I would prefer using a high grade wooden stock and high grade everything else. For firearms wood is my favorite. I am classically conservative in taste in firearms and most other things.

I'll second that! :D

:D

Roger I think it's a crying shame that you would have to hunt with a shelf knife. Someone should take pity and make you a knife to carry this year! Heaven knows you've earned it around here.

Dave, as a matter of fact, and this is - well you can't even write this kinda stuff - a gun maker in New York that I have heat treated for has offered to send me a D2 I had HT'd for him to use during Spring turkey season. Ain't that somethin! Its just the bare blade too; perfect.
