Soo, when I got this back in August, I promised some pics as soon as I got a digital camera. Got one today. This is my first experiment with it, please forgive the shoddiness.

Blade is 8", steel is L6, guard is nickle silver, scales are G-10.

I'm a real sucker for 8" blades and that is one NICE looking knife

Does it have a fully sharpened back edge?

I'll go take a look at Patton's website but if you don't mind me asking, and you certainly don't have to say, how much does it cost?

What a piece of work; I always love Kaspar-based designs, but this one looks very special! Great carbon steel blade, very pretty handles, and to top it all of a very nice-looking sheath with the belt stud. You should be proud!

The back edge is fully sharpened. Bit of a requirement with me; if you're not going to sharpen it, why have it? Rob is well-aquainted with Bowie techniques, he trains with James Keating.

Base price for the Grande is $550. Mine was a bit more. Standard model comes with a bead-blasted finish and a kydex sheath. Bead blasting is okay for work knives, but for a dedicated fighter I like something a little more special. I'm really happy with the way the hand finishing came out on this one. Almost like a satin, battleship grey, or antiqued finish, and with the hand rubbing them temper lines are visible.

The sheath was a surprise. I had no idea he was doing it in leather. I still kinda plan on sending it to Mike Sastre for the SC treament, but I'm really happy with the one it came with. The handle and guard had more of a satin finish on arrival, but I had an inscription engraved on the back strap of the tang, and when I buffed out the burrs from it, decided to give the handle and guard a bit more of a polish. I like the way it came out.

I should've included a pic of the handle tang, which has a slight distal taper. The whole piece floats in the hand, very quick on snap and back cuts.

Thanks for the additional information! I just might have to seriously think about putting on of these on order.

Oh, my poor wallet! :D That's just a great-looking knife.

Rob required around half down, and the balance by the time he actually began work, so it didn't hurt me too badly. Delivery was in five months. I recommend him highly. Awesome guy, good customer service and he knows what he's doing.

Rob is an amazing knifemaker, and his dad aint bad either;) He has a way of taking traditional materials and styles and injecting some cool modern touches that are always cool.. You wont go wrong with anything that guy makes!

Rob has the best fit and finish i have ever seen on a knife before. i got this mandritta a few months back. he told me he was quite happy to get to forge something instead of the stock removal (too many foxbats and Kaspers i reckon:D)

this knife is also beautifully balanced with sharpened clip. it just says bad M'F'er! don't you think?:)

I think I'm sold. Do you have the maker's contact information?

Not to be confused with Phillip Patton, whose site is Patton Blades.

Although Phillip is an up and comer whose designs (which he's been posting in the custom forum) are getting my attention lately. Take a look at his stuff too; his prices are going to go up as he gets more recognition.

It seems like the design of the Mandritta is ever-evolving, but I think that's the best of them that I've seen. Sexy.
