Where can I find this guy? Any comments on his work? I've visited his website, but it was a long time ago, and now I can't seem to find a trace of him, but I know he hangs around here sometime. If anyone can give me his website address and any info on him, I'd appreciate, although from memory I know I'm basically sold on his knives.

Rob, if you get this one yourself, e-mail me when you get a chance.

I was told I had a 17 month wait for the knife I ordered from Rob. At least it gives you time to save up the money. Talonite ain`t cheap!! From everything I`ve heard about Rob and Talonite, it`s worth the wait. I`ll post my review sometime in the year 2001!!!!

rob's a great guy, he heat treats the knives i make for me. he keeps you informed about what's going on, and responds to e-mail very quickly.

Yeah, I FINALLY found his site. I was spelling his name wrong--duh! Oh well. With that wait, he seems to be a future option, but my knife monetary fund ain't up to the $500 or so I'd need for the custom I want--not to mention, I'm not sure I can wait that long. I'll just go with production. But I'm keeping tabs on Rob this time! And that wait is nearly 2 years, according to his website.

Cajun Gator? I think not-where'd that idea come from? =)

You will never go wrong with Rob or his knives. I have a Cetan in Talonite and (in transit) a D2 Hawkbill Cetan. The Cetan is probably one of the best working knives I've ever handled. Can't wait to use the Hawkbill model and see how it stacks up to the standard Cetan. Get in line quick!

Mr. Gator-

Rob's an all around good guy. Whether you're buying his custom or production knives, his heat treating services or raw Talonite, you can't beat his quality, honesty or customer service.

I am the fortunate owner of both a custom and a stock Cetan. While the custom was being made, I would receive periodic "works in progress" photos and progress updates via email. On receipt of each knife, there was also a spec sheet/history letter explanining all about the knife.

No, his prices aren't cheap and his leadtimes aren't short. But the value and satisfaction level associated with his knives make them a bargain and worth the money and the wait.

Stay sharp,

Jim

Rob,
Glad to see you in here! Just want to re-emphasize that everything that has been said about Rob & his work is on-the-money - have a Talonite Cetan now that is my main work knife - wonderful!! Rob(otherwise known as Santa), is the Talonite Carnivour still on target for Christmas? I've been working very hard & been very good the last two weeks so I could send you your cookies & milk at the end of the week. And I am so glad I got on your list early for the other three before the wait got so long. And if you keep doing such good work you might a new Stetson two sizes bigger.

Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Bill

P.S. Assume you've been doing some hunting - hope you did well!

I'm wondering if the Talonite "Signature" series that was listed on his site a while back is included in the backlog. The Signature series was posted for a while, but isn't listed in the website anymore and I've been curious about the status of this line. This is some beautiful work, and I'd love to "road test" it sometime.

Hello guys,

I happen to agree with the above posts,,,Rob simonich is a very fine knifemaker, and above all his technical experiance, he is just an all around good person.

I have to admit that in the handful of makers and manufacturers i consider above board in helping out and just all around good people,,Rob is in that group for sure.

Take care and have a great day,

Allen Blade

As seems to be my fate lately, I've arrived here late. I can't say enough good things about Rob, so rather than have Christine be forced to shop a larger hat size for Rob, I'll hold back. Suffice it to say he's the real deal, willing to work with customer designs, workmanship is top shelf, and he just loves to tease with photos of your work in progress

. I lay claim to baiting Rob into the "Talonite Project" which generated the first Talonite knife, S/N 001 Wambli which is nothing short of fantastic. I also managed to secure his first custom Talonite REKAT Carnivore which has become my daily carry folder. In the works is a presentation grade "super" Wambli, the thought of which makes my head spin <whoopie!!!>.

For those questioning the "Signature Series"...trust me. Stay tuned around here. Neat things are afoot and many will not only be taken off guard but ecstatic about the implications. Confused? You won't be for long
