I'm making a new platen for my belt grinder and my local glass shop has Robax instead of Pyroceram. Of course, both manufacturer sites insist that their product is better then the other, some industrial sites put them both in the same category (all the same thing). Has anyone used Robax for a platen?
It's not cheap ($60/sq. ft.) but it's what's local. It's not tempered, so it can be cut like regular glass without worrying about it exploding. The guy at the shop is going to dig around and see if he can find some scrap or smaller pieces to sell "cheap". yeah.
Anyone familiar with this ceramic?
