Robert Kaufmann was honored on June 7, the night before Blade Show, as one of the three CKCA-Jerry Fisk Cutlery Challenge award winners at the CKCA Blade Banquet, along with winners Elizabeth Loerchner and JR Cook. Robert is a really cool guy from Germany who is QUITE well-known there for his cutting-edge designs. His work is greatly sought after by high end collectors.

First, an image of a set of chopsticks Robert was kind enough to make for me just this year. Note that both blade edges are, indeed, finely ground.

After the chopsticks image, you'll see where they "come from":

Here are images of where the chopsticks actually originate within Kaufmann's design:

Yes, a BIG Congratulations to Robert Kaufmann Elizabeth Loerchner and JR Cook, I don't know who seemed more surprised.
It's going to be three outstanding knife projects born out of the Challenge and Custom Knives will benefit long term from these projects.

A BIG thanks to all who attended our Banquet last night, we had quite the time as usual.

Yes after seeing this piece I would say he deservedly earned his place in this challenge. Congratulations to Robert.
