I'd like to show you a nice little knife from Robert Klaas, Solingen. Blade is damascus, 300 layer, from Markus Balbach, a famous German damascus smith. Bolsters are from nickels silver and scales from snake wood. Fine Quality.

The sharpness out of the box is rather ok, shaving hair off the forearm scratchingly. But there is much more potential in the steel if sharpened in the right way. I know the steel already. In my subjective estimation it is comparatively hard, it takes and holds a good edge.

The blade is thinly ground, together with the potential of the steel, this knife can be a real Schneidteufel (cutting devil) as we say in Germany.

I'm going to have to try some damascus one day. I've read Carl's/Jackknife posts on his damascus peanut and his reports seem like it's good stuff.
I'm sure you'll enjoy using that knife. Thanks for posting it here for us to look at.
