This knife has red white and blue spacers between micarta scales and a 3/16" full tang with a heavy leather sheath.

I won it on eBay for I thought a very cheap US$48 a few months ago and was intrigued by the unusual name engraved on the Blade. The knife is signed in running script on the tang by the maker Robert Shaw who I could not find anything on. I then Googled the engraved name on the blade as its a bit unusual and found him on facebook which I joined just to contact him. I sent an email asking if he knew anything about the knife or maker and if he wanted it back.
He replied:
"Thank you so much for taking the time research the knife and contact me. I never expected to hear anything about that knife again. Robert Shaw is my uncle and the knife was given to me as a highschool graduation present. It was stolen in late 2006 or early 2007 while I was deployed to Iraq. I would love to make arrangements to get it back. Please get back to me so we can work something out."

So after going missing for 5 years and going from the Southwest to Tennessee and then Australia and back again it was regained by its rightful owner covering my costs only - postage to Australia and back was $50 but I still think the knife was worth a lot more than that to him and me!

He asked his uncle what it was and wrote "Heard back from Robert. According to him, it is most likely peter(sp?) (Swedish) steel but could also or Hitachi 440C. Both are stainless. The handle is mycarta; all the hardware is brass."

That is a cool story. Good of you to track down the owner and return the knife.
