Licensed to Kill: Hired Guns in the War on Terror

anybody read RYP's latest book yet? I just finished it up today on the two day plane ride back from Mali, it's a great read, lots of insider information on the use of private contractors being employed in the global fight against terrorism, their history and culture, and roots in the mercenary business.

pick up a copy if you haven't read it yet !

(thanks Jeff!)

Licensed To Kill is a great book. I'm now chipping away a few pages a night at The Worlds Most Dangerous Places.

Did anyone hear RYP on Coast To Coast the other night? I was beat down from a long day and missed some of the conversation, I should have clicked my tape recorder on before I fell asleep:thumbdn:

I am about half way through it and I gotta say it's one of the most informative books I have read. It's hard to put down.

I just got it in along with World's Most Dangerous Places, and a book Pelton wrote the intro for called I Wouldn't Start From Here. I've been reading through WMDP but haven't made it to licensed to kill yet.

i'm about a fifth through WMDP - its a big book to carry around to read. I've also picked up Mike and Jeff's Adventures in the Third World, which I will start soon. Couldn't find that one in Canada so had to order down south and ship it north....

I'm about half way through License to kil...it's a good read...I just finished the chapter on the Blackwater killings in Fallujah. Very interesting.

I've been eyeing that one and The Worlds Most Dangerous Places. When I'm done with the one I have right now, I think I'm going to ginve one of them a go.

I have read about all of them; 'Licensed to Kill', 'The Adventurist', and 'The Hunter, Heaven and Hell'

He's a great author.

It was interesting to read about the South African 32nd "Buffalo" Batallion and the association of this unit's veterans with various mercenary groups worldwide, including Executive Outcomes.

I used to work with a guy who was a Captain in this same commando battalion years ago and he would tell me the war stories after a couple of drinks, it'd make the hair on the back of my neck standup hearing some of the things these guys were forced to do and to endure. I can see know how so many of these guys ended up working as mercenaries...

Sad to say I haven't read them yet.

I will say that RYP is a hell of a guy. Not what I had expected before I met him. He's a blast to bum around with.

I was dissappointed when the band started playing at the bar we were hanging at because I knew the stories were about to stop.

I read it in the 2 weeks i was in Kuwait. Good book, I had a lot of guys asking if they could get it when I was done. The book is now in Basra Iraq, about 500 miles to the south of me with one of my buddies. Now I am reading THE ADVENTURIST.

Currently reading the adventurist. My first read from RYP. I have a few mor ebefore my next amazon order. May check it out
