Ran down to Kentucky to my one of my favorite little knife stores Sat., found a Robeson (Queen Made) Barlow that I just couldn't pass up.

It's a #69 Carved Stag Bone Barlow, the main blade reads "Robeson MasterCraft 1 of 200" and the main blade tang reads "Robeson ShurEdge U.S.A." on the mark side, and "Queen Cut. Co. Titusville, PA" on the pile side. The pen blade tang reads "Robeson ShurEdge U.S.A.".

The fit and finish are fantastic, and the snap on both blades are VERY strong. It doesn't say what steel it is, but my "gut" feeling is 420HC.

Now that is a pretty knife. If you don't mind me asking, where abouts in KY did you get that one at? I'm always looking for a good knife store within driving distance, as some of the local, small-town stuff is a little limited.

It's in Grand Rivers, KY, right on the Land Between the Lakes area.

If yuo've ever heard of the resturant "Patti's 1881 Establishment", famous for their 2" thick pork chops, it's about 50 feet down the sidewalk from Patti's on the corner.

I first noticed it about a year ago, leaving Patti's and walking ot my car I just happened to see a wood cut-out of a pocketknife over the door and walk into one of the best knife I have ever found.

Huge selections of:

Case
Buck
Boker
Queen
Hen & Rooster
German Bull
SOG
Cold Steel
Canal Street Cutlery
Vintage American Schrades
Kissing Crane
Smith & Wesson

And lot's of other names, they have one of the best selections of slipjoints I have ever seen and they have ALOT of discontinued stuff that's been in there for awhile. Sat. I saw about a dozen ofthe Bluegrass Cutlery/Queen Made Winchesters for 30-35 bucks!

They also carry guns.

The folks there were really friendly to!

They do not do phone or online sales though, strictly an old fashioned brick & mortar store.

Well, looks like I'm gonna have to make a little trip out towards the Land Between the Lakes area soon! And as a bonus, I'll have to stop in Patti's and try those 2" thick porkchops! :)

They are almost FATAL they are so goood!

Also if you do go to Grand Rivers, 10 miles on down the road East on I24 is Eddyville, KY and the Outlet Mall there has a Shepard Hills store with TONS of Case and Buck knives.

Sounds like I had better start saving my money now...that's just too much knife goodness to pass up!

Damn, why did you have to mention a 2" pork chop when I'm hungry. That's downright cruel! I can almost smell it. Can't beat that one stop shopping though!

I'm getting the same knife in "root beer" scales. they look sortof greenish.Different for sure. here's the catalog pic.

Nice to see a real photo of one. Can't wait.

That's a nice find there TLC. And a bonus of a nice store like that, plus 2" chops wow how cool is that . Must be Barlow week I just Bought two Case barlows. Now those Robeson are nice always and so are the case for that matter. If I was you I would have to make more trips down to the store on the corner...Take care..... Mike

Got my Barlow the other day. What a beauty. I had to sharpen the master blade because there was a little nick, probably when it closes.Getting used to the half stops. The jigging is incredible.I had to crocus the blades. For a purist collector, I know this is a no-no, but blades today are polished by tumbling, and I just don't like that look,so I give them a nice satin look.If you look at the photo above advertising the knife, you'll notice the blades are satin. It's a keeper anyways, and going into the pool of EDC's.
Someone said half stops prolong the life of the knife.Anyone find this to be true?

Those are some very nice dark scales there! Hope it gets used, it's asking for it...

Both blades are tight side to side.No wobble. They do however move when in the open position, for lack of a better term...up and down wobble.Just a bit.I am wondering if that is a common trait for half stops. I've said before I'm not a big fan of half stops, but the action on this knife is pretty nice.Sits in the pocket easy to. I never owned a barlow before, and always figured they would be too heavy, although holding it in your hand, it has a heft that is pleasing. You can't see it but the grind on the other side of the small blade is greatly traditional. The blades are perfect size.

I picked one of these up yesterday in a nice jiged stag red bone. It has the best fit and finish of any knife I have and the only complaint I would have, it that the nail nick on the pen blade is a little shallow.
I hate it that someone is letting out my secret knife brousing grounds though!;)
