Evening,

Today has been a Netflix and chill day for me. So I've been watching a lot of period pieces. I just finished watching the Robin Hood film with Russell Crowe in it; and I noticed a interesting sword. The sword or big knife can be scene hanging from Crowes belt at the beginning and end if movie. There is only one scene in the movie where the blade is visible. It is when Crowe is walking away from the final battle and Maid Marianne is in his arm. If you look at one of the blocks cheering him you can see the blade. I haven't been able to find a pic of that scene but I did see this one.

Im interested in learning if the blade is of historical usage or just something they found in a warehouse. Thanks for the help.

Is that the movie where the invaders come with Normandy style landing boats? I was just 'wtf'?
Judging by this I wouldn't trust much from that movie to be very historically accurate.

The movie sword was sold through Museum Replicas

The scabbard , belt pouch and knife were sold separately.. One might relate the movie sword as plausible in history as an Oakeshott type XI and more or less of the period of Richard the Lionheart. The grind is ahistorical but the overall of the type of the 12th century.

The "archer" sword linked previously a couple of centuries later in history (hundred years war).

Cheers

The photo shows the "chopper". A replica was sold by Museum Replicas (I have one, but am unable to post pics-sorry :o). It is a beast of a weapon (google-robin hood movie chopper and go down about 6 or so); I have no idea how accurate it is, but I would not be surprised if something like it was around since it is a very simple (yet deadly) weapon.

Yup, that is it. Looks like a real brutal weapon that a archer would carry.

Yes, that one a bit hysterical ;)
A lot of hysterical blades have xame from history.

One of my favourites is the maciejowski, which is probably why I like the blade from the movie.

And why (when compared to the majikwhoski piece) the movie chopper is hysterical ;)
