How do the robo assist knives work? How do the blades come out?

There is a little tang? ( for lack of the correct term) on the blade that you pull back with your index finger which starts the blade in motion. After the blade has traveled a short distance out of the knife, the Robo assist takes over and propels the blade the rest of the way to the fully open and locked position.. I have a Camillus Heat for EDC and the mechanism is genius. It is the easiest of my assisted openers.

I have the all black plain edge tanto heat, very sharp, and so simple to open, my favorite edc, its a great knife.

first time out of the box I was not suspecting it, and the tip went right into my palm, I laughed cause I thought "NEAT!"

just as fast as a switchblade as far as I'm concerned..

The Heat, Blaze and Sizzle all open quickly. So much so that when I gave my Blaze to a good, knifeless friend and showed him how to use the Robo, he literally jumped back with 'Whoa! That's a switchblade!" He's used to it now, but it took a few days for him to adjust. Great knives.
