Upon arriving, the first turnoff had a sign that said Great Falls. I did not realize that Great Falls was actually in the riverbed, and was actually assuming that Twin Falls was Great Falls
I headed down the Old Mill Trail, and into the riverbed below the dam, which was quite interesting, because you get to see what the bottom of the river looks like. I worked my way all the way down to where a power station blocks further progress, then came back along the underside of the cliffs on the bank.
After consulting a ranger who showed me where a couple of small falls that aren't on the map would be, I hiked part of the Eagle Trail to a spur with an overlook of Baby Falls. Had a lot of fun rambling down in the ravines.
On the other side of the river the Downstream Trail leads to views of Twin Falls, and on to Little Falls.
The Old Mill Trail, Baby and Little Falls were my favorite parts. I actually don't care much about the size of these waterfalls, but how much fun I get to have climbing and exploring around them.
From the Old Mill Trail:
You can see the dam and Great Falls are in the background.
Across the river bed.
I was really kind of underwhelmed by Great Falls. It's part of the river, and you can't get close to it. I dropped back by on the way out as they were releasing more water from the dam, and took a few more pics, though.
Here it is getting a higher release from the dam.
From the Eagle Trail. This little creek goes underground in the same spot it forms a small waterfall. Places like this get a lot more of my interest!
Baby Falls. Perhaps should have uploaded more pics from around here. From here the water flows in a long cascade down to the river, and the walls on both sides feature undercuts and seeps and a variety of color.
Near the Eagle Trail TH is a picnic area with nice views across the river.
