So I was doing some digging a couple of weeks ago, trying to find someone who may have a particular Eureka I'm really trying to acquire.

I noticed that Rockon75 Rockon75 had purchased a eureka that may be the one (I couldn't tell from the closed thread what the handles were), and I contacted him to see if it was the one I sought, and more importantly - if he was willing to sell.

I've chatted with Rockon75 in the past a fair amount, and as always he was friendly and receptive to my inquiry. He sadly informed me that he didn't have the specific #92 that I wanted, but did have a couple of others. Of course, being a great pattern regardless, I told him that if he'd ever decide to sell, to let me know. He indicated that may be a possibility one day, and asked if I was wanting one to use or safekeep...

A handful of days later (about a week ago), I received a package in the mail that I wasn't expecting, and low and behold it contained a well loved eureka Jack with ebony handles. Rockon75 utilized Charlie to obtain my address (thank you @waynorth !) and very generously gifted me his user #92!

What a wonderful knife! It has such simple beauty that I don't think I would have noticed had it not been for this thoughtful gesture. I decided I wanted to carry it for a week at least to truly appreciate it before posting my "thank you thread" to Rockon75. I've had it hiking, cutting hot dog sticks, cutting up hoagies at our picnic, & performing mundane package opening over the past 7 days, and it's such a great performer. Mostly though, I just sit and look at it, and think of how lucky I am, how great "the porch" is, and how Rockon75 is a super guy!

It's with the utmost and sincere gratitude that I say THANK YOU Rockon75!20180830_203738.jpg

The generosity and fellowship never ceases to amaze me, here on the porch.

It is a heartwarming pleasure to witness, truly.

What a great gift, Sabercat..use it well...and right on, Rockon75.

Outstanding

Should rename this place The Sea of Tranquility :) An oasis of decency and altruism in contrast to the often cynical and boorish world

I'll go out on a limb and say the Eureka is GEC's best Jack pattern: revival of an old and difficult to find pattern, grand blade choice and best enjoyed Barehead (like most knives ;)) I treasure mine and just wonder why GEC won't make another run. The Galvanic SFOs were deeply impressive too.

I've been lucky enough to receive presents from members, help in finding stuff and positive responses on enquiring about the availability of knives too. I hope I have been able to return some of this too.

I'd just like to add that the Eureka's sister knife the Talon is also a remarkable pattern. Its Spear is slightly different from the Eureka's. I was wanting one for ages with no success and I contacted Ken Krol in Canada with enquiries about if he would sell or trade his NIT one. I was intending to use it and have done so with great pleasure. He simply sent it to me out of kindness, I was moved but we don't hear from him lately on the Forum. I hope he is well.
