I recently lost [or had stolen from me] my ancient Lightfoot predator backup. It was as solid as a rock. Its only flaw was that it was a linerlock, which I trust somewhat less than frame locks / interframes / integral folders. It is surprisingly hard to replace with something a bit more modern.

I like and am looking for partial serrations for this particular knife. Why? For me, this one will go where I may not be able to sharpen it for a while [I'll be stuck in a kayak and climbing for extended periods] so the serrations are useful, as long as the blade is about 4 inches or more to preserve a useful nonserrated edge. I'd like S30V or 440V or BG 42 - no ATS 34, although it's a fine steel. And I like tip up carry for fast deployment [just what I'm used to] Ideally,, a rear bolster or skull crusher would be excellent. Actually, extremely useful. In a perfect world, the forward top edge would also be sharp.
I don't think there is one out there, and my usual suspects are too busy to do a one off for me.
Have any of you seen a custom like this out there?
I know some Sebenzas come close [ no "skullcrusher" or sharp top edge] and I'm surprised that there is no Strider that fits the bill, but we love customs more, no?

Greg has a beautiful framelock, the Full Contact. Kit Carson makes a beautiful partly serrated blade, buts it's ATS 34. Les has a new beautiful Tighe, the Vanguard Tighphoon, and these are the closest things I could find. Outstanding knives from great makers, but each is missing a couple of elements that i was looking for.

Have you seen such a beast, or a beast that would lend itself to being modified?

HJK, how about considering a fixed blade? There must be many makers out there who do 4 inch fixed blades in S30V with sharpened top edges.

Won't Sebenza or Strider (SNG) put serrations for you?

I do use an assortment of fixed blades, but I was looking for a folder this time. Thanks for the link to RH. I'd love to try one out. About having Strider add serrations, I'll ask, but I bet delivery date, if they'll do it, ain't soon. :)

How about a Steve Ryan M1 framelock...shouldn't be too hard to find ;)

Did you take a bite out of that blade - again? :)
Thanks. I'll start looking. Keep 'em coming!

Let me know if you run into any unicorns on the way!

Here's another one with bite! (with see through G10 scales...and anodized liners underneath)...by fellow Canadian Peter Marzitelli.

I have to put another vote in for a Rick Hinderer knife. I had him make a Firetac Extreme for me, and I have to say it is the smoothest knife that I own. The finish work and detailing on it are perfect.........and it is built like a tank. Side by side with a Sebenza, it makes the Sebbie look like a Yugo. Rick encouraged me to beat it up, but I have not been able to. Rick's knives are well worth it.
