Went for a great hike outside Denver yesterday. Two questions:

1) Is this poison oak? Leaves were about 1 inch long. Sure hope not.

2) Saw a moose. Are these native to Colorado? Is it possible this one was being farmed/ranched?

That looks like poison ivy, but it would be easier to see both pics if they were a little larger, I can hardly make out the pics when they are that size.

Made pics bigger by going through photobucket... If anyone knows how to post pics direct from Picasa, please pm me.

Also, we were at about 9500 feet.

Thanks!

Alright, thanks that's a bit better.

Now, they don't look like either. The edges don't look like poison ivy or oak...

I guess it could be poison ivy, those jagged edges just don't look right though, but I guess it varies depending on were you are, so maybe that's what it looks like there.

here are some pics of poison ivy:

Poison Ivy tends to vary pretty widely. While it always has the three leaves, in some areas the leaves are slightly lobed, others with slightly toothed leaves, etc... Sometimes grows as a climbing vine, other times it can be found resembling a shrub. One characteristic that appears to be pretty consistant though is that the center leaf has a longer stem, as can be seen in the pics posted above. Usually I look for the three leaves, longer center stem, and a lack of thorns. I seem to do pretty well avoiding it by those criteria. Hope that helps and if I'm wrong on any of this someone please correct me.

I haven't had dinner and am kind of hungry and read the title of your thread as: Poison oak mousse

Those kind of look like strawberry leaves

I'd say wild strawberry too. I have it all over my ranch in Colorado. The moose must be a project of somebody's. I've heard that they released some up around Estes Park.
