Has anyone used this? I'm thinking if picking it up as I've always wanted to learn guitar. I had to sell my drums a while back and miss playing something. Where I live getting back into drums isn't a possibility so guitar should be nice. Just wondering how well you can actually learn with the Rocksmith? Don't get me wrong- I don't expect to come out of it tearing it up like Yngwie but if it can teach me the basics to where I can take off with it myself that would be enough for me. All input is welcome.

I can't let you know right now, but that's what my son wanted for Xmas so I got him a cheap electric guitar and the game. He knows a little guitar but not much, so we shall see.

My nephew, who is a serious musician, rolled his eyes in disgust when I told him what I got.

A guitar playing friend of mine recommended "GuitarSmith" as a good way to learn and have fun. Haven't bought it yet but I plan to, to use with my Stratocaster. It's available for a PC too, so you don't have to have an expensive game console.

Either I have the name wrong or they changed the name with the new version, but I believe it's the same product.

My son-in-law taught himself to play and is pretty good- even plays classical stuff. He loves it and highly recommends it- and that's with the old version- the new version is supposed to be much better. It's definitely on my wish list (though I play bass). I love that they included bass guitar.
