Rockstead Chi, Problems!

So I finally broke down and paid top dollar for a Rockstead Chi in YXR steel. I thought it would be my end all folding knife, but when I fell asleep with it clipped to my pocket, it spread apart at the pivot causing massive blade rub. I tried removing the two take down screws, but still could not get the handles to come apart. The pivot is very unique in that it rides on two enclosed bearings and has no external adjustments. Just got it back from Japan, and now it is back to its usual glass like feel, but it makes me question the design and wondering if I'm better off with the Higo with its sebenza like pivot. Beautiful folder but I expected more from this price point.

A knife should not be damaged because you fell asleep. Good thing you didn't cut anything with it! That would have qualified as abuse! :D

The thing sounds like a precious little angel safe queen. Thanks for sharing the info .

It was my body weight pressing on it at a weird angle that caused it, but still for over 750 bucks?

If we've learned anything at all is that the price of a knife has little if anything to do with the construction or mechanical attributes of said knife.

A pivot screw backing out can happen to any knife without a little locktite on the screw. I've done the same thing with my Higo and never had any problems.
