Hi all!

It's been a while since I've dipped my toe in the Rockstead world and I'm debating purchasing a Higo II in YX47 steel. As I understand it, YXR7 is a high speed steel with innately low corrosion resistance. I also understand that Rockstead DLC coats the steel to assist with corrosion-related concerns. In reality, and from those who have experienced Rockstead's YXR7 over a period of years, how well does the steel hold up to corrosion with the coating in reality? Is that apex largely the concern? Would it be ideal to oil the blade periodically? Or am I just overthinking this and all should be fine. I'm planning to use the knife as an EDC, so want to be prepared and set my expectations.

Thank you!

I don't exactly live in an area with super high humidity, but I've seen no signs of rust on mine. I just wipe the blade off when I'm done using it. Maybe use a little WD-40 if there something gummy on it. The DLC does it's job perfectly for rust prevention as far as I can see. Been using it for years now.

Nice! How often do you use/carry it?

I've had it for a year and a half or so. It gets carried and used. Enough to be cleaned a few times. It's had a minimal amount of KPL ultralight on the blade, twice. In a humid but not salty environment. Zero signs of any corrosion.
