Anyone here on this forum own a rockstead knife or knives? How much do they cost in U.S.? Any pics of them from people on here? What is YXR7? Thanks!

There isn't a single one that appeals to me aesthetically.

But, from what I have read, the people that have them, love them.

I have held them at the BLADE Show, saw the Demos and have visited their website.

They appear to be very well made knives, have some nice ergos and I like the designs of the mid to larger folders and one of the Fixed blades. I don't recall the composition or Rc of the Steel (though I am sure I have seen it somewhere) but I was impressed with both the online and Show Demos at Blade.

All that said, would I like to have one and put it through some easy testing? As a knife explorer who likes to try new things and does NOT follow the masses - YES.

Would I pay the Retail price (or even the price they sell for used)? As an informed buyer for what else is available in the price range - NO.

Thus is my dilema.

I saw them at the NYC show. The guy puts on an impressive cutting demo hacking away on bamboo and slicing through newspaper. I checked out the folders and the fit & finish were great. The blades had a cool black mirror finish ( DLC ). I liked the 2 framelocks they had. The handles were aluminium. The linerlock's had a rayskin inlay. They were very well made but the price was very high. I believe the framelock folders were over $900. This was almost a yr. ago and with the dollar dropping they may be more now.

There is an amazing video where the CEO keeps on cutting and cutting and cutting through rope without sharpening, really amazing.
The fit and finish is also exemplary.
Definitely you get really high quality with them.
