I've been looking at Rockstead knives, seen some good things and bad things. I was just sitting here thinking about if I was to ever get one and needed it to be sharpened would, or could, people on BF be able to perform the enormous task of sharpening of it for me and get good results. Sending to Japan is always a option, I seen (on YouTube) a rockstead shin with a nice chip in the blade. so my concern is maintaining the sharpness. Typically these knives have a Rockwell hardness of 67-68. I understand maybe I could go a life time with most of my light cutting task and just lightly strop it to keep a keen edge, but maybe not.

Would some of the more experienced people attempt this and be able to get it right, with a beautiful mirror finish.

Has anyone actually attempted this?

What method was used?

Thanks for your replies.

I found the 65 pages of Rockstead knives, this has answered most my questions.
