Saw it at Lowes this morning. Anyone have experience? I'm thinking it probably wouldn't be too good for knife steel.

It looks like it uses the same blades as a hand held jigsaw. I've never tried that on steel but I suspect that a person could go through a lot of steel cutting blades. Just a guess.

While I may be wrong, it looks like the annual Fathers Day gadget offering of a high priced multi tool for the small shop. They do a lot of things...just none of them very well.

I read the reviews, and what it is is just a table top jig saw.....nothing more. It only has a 1/4HP motor, so power will be lacking for any serious cutting, and metal blades won't last long on anything but tubing and thin sheet metal. Stainless steel will probably be a no-go.

Will it trim the ends off on a set of scales - yes.
Will it profile a CPM-154 blade - I doubt it.

You can screw your Bosch VS jig saw to a piece of plywood and get the same tool, less the fancy blade guard.
Many yard sales have the old bench top tables for converting a hand router or jig saw to a machine like this ....for about $2-5.
