hey all I work for a company that builds massive rock crushers and things of that nature. Well we happen to have some Rockwell testers and I’m thinking of testing a few of my blades just because I think it would be interesting. My question is would this void a warranty if I did one of crk? If not then should the test be done on the tang itself or some place else? Thanks

Not sure what is involved in testing. Can you explain the process? Does it damage the blade at all?

It will leave a Tiny round mark where the test is done. Basically makes an indentation somewhere unnoticeable and it measures the amount of penetration/deflection on a scale. That’s how your number is figured. A YouTube video shows you the steps and explains far better than I can

I would not chance it- I have access to two types at work.. One of them leaves a mark so small, it's almost imperceptible. The other, it's a fair amount bigger.

The easiest way to get a correct answer would be to contact CRK.

My armchair opinion is if you put a dent in the blade, no matter how metallurgically sound that method is, it's probably not covered for things like if the blade cracks at a later point.
