I found a nice pair of Rocky hikers that were called 8" Sawblades.
Has anybody heard of these particular boots?
They were in my size (always a plus) and were $120.

Thanks,

Rocky have been hit and miss for me as far as quality goes since they moved production south of the border. I'm not willing to say you can't get a quality shoe unless it is made in the US because it is getting harder and harder to find a shoe or boot made here, I'm just saying that Rocky hasn't had a good handle on QC in my experience. If you get them, let us know how you like them.

Rocky used to make dependable and comfortable boots but the last two pair I got didn't seem to be as well made as older ones.

I've seen rockies fall apart. I have had a pair of snake boots by them, but anyone in their right mind would have thrown them away a while back. They are still comfy but are in disarray.

I use Rocky steel toe boot on the job since 2005, not daily though as I spent my time more in the office. I like it better than my Red Wing, much lighter and comfortable. The quality is good, although I think Red Wing still better in quality.

So do you guys think they are worth $120 or can I get better quality for a similar price elsewhere?

Thanks

Personally dude, I think you would be better off with some Danner Pronghorns GTX for about $20 more or so. Comparable boot with a better track record.

I had a pair of Rockies that started falling apart after 6 months. Also they stunk to high heaven after wearing them just a week or so. Something about the glue they used. I had to stop wearing them anywhere indoors where there were any people close to me. Very dissapointing @ $100

Yeah, I think I'm starting to shy away from Rocky.
I've had very good luck with Timberland work boots. Really comfortable even after my 15 hour days.
I may just look at some of their hikers.
Thanks everybody for probably saving me money and aggravation.

Best hikers I have are Asolo's. Same pair, 10 years, no rips, tears, good vibram sole with a lot of meat on them still.

If you have found a brand (Timberline) that fits you well, I think your odds increase at liking their other models as well.

Joe, if you need a new pair of snake boots, check out Chippewa boots. They are a divison of Justin brand and as far as I know most of the Chippewa boots are made in the US. They are very well made boots.
