...fixed blade, about 3 1/2", with hoofprint 'cut-outs', laminated wood scales, and a Vangard-type nylon sheath. Is anyone familiar with this model? The blade configuration looks like it would make a good field dressing knife. I'd like to find some info about it.

Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,,,in a word....

Pics! :D

ok,,,few more words. Generally cutout blades do not make good users. Some times the cutout is too close to the sharpened edge and can hold debris. Not to mention that cutouts are usually designated collectibles.

Now get busy with the pics :)

If its the one I think your think about :D I believe it is an import model.

I saw it while fishing the 'bay. ;) It also caught my interest... Other than that I dont know alot about it. I have a hard time finding a model number for it. Its not a standard one?
Maybe I'll buy one and post my take on it ;)

Pack Rat the small hoof cutouts are up by the choil, (not too big) and a long ways away from the cutting edge. It kinda reminds me of the Big Sky 403. Blade has the same grind but a tad different blade shape.

cool...I have seen some cutouts so close to the cutting edge that they wouldn't take much sharpening.

Import? New for 2008??? Special model only for RMEF? :D

For you BCCI guys....take a look at the back 2 pages of your March "08" news letter. It has the list of the "07" special projects; it shows the 0480PKS S RMEF-A, shows 100,000 were or will be made for the RMEF.

I had sent Joe an email about these when they first showed up on the auction sites asI thought they maybe fake Bucks...but he looked into them and said they were Buck knives. As he had to look into them I think they are over seas made...But, I don't know that for sure.

wh4f, you hit the nail on the head. When I saw it on e-bay, it reminded me of my "Big Sky', only with a shorter blade, which I think would make it a good knife for field-dressing chores. I'll know more once it shows up in my mailbox.
Thanks, guys,for your input.
