Was wondering if anyones going to the Sheridan show (May 20th-22nd)? Has anyone been to the show before?

I've never been and am looking forward to seeing what it's all about, the sea of tools is probably going to put a hurt on my finances but I've been stashing a little cash away to lessen the blow.

Looking forward to seeing some Wayne Jueschke and Barry King stamps in person and will be on the lookout for some quality edge bevelers. Going to see about picking up a burnisher from Leather Machine Co. too.

Anyways, if anyones going and wants to meet up for a quick handshake let me know.

We've got the burnisher and ya'll like it. Its a time saver for sure.

I've not been but I use to have a lot of contact with a guy that went every year as he lived in Sheridan. He use to always say the best edgers were the old Douglas ones.

Great show, it's been a few years since I've been but expect to spend some money they usually have some great deals. Sheridan is a beautiful setting for this show.

Thanks Dave, I'll keep an eye out.

I preemptively cursed and kicked myself to ease the pain of what I know I'm gonna end up spending. I've always liked that area wouldn't mind retiring around there. We're gonna hit up the usual spots and swing out to Deadwood and visit a friend on the way back, looking forward to the trip.
I will be there I'll keep an eye out for ya
I'll be there Friday, give me a call (edited) and maybe we can meet up. I'll be the bearded guy with 2 kids and a wife that's out of his league😄 bless her heart I don't know why she tolerates me.

The show was great, as always the customer service at Leather Machine Co was efficient and excellent. Picked up a Burnisher with $50 knocked off for the show and they threw in a few other things that I had picked up for nothin, 3 spools of thread, bottle of machine oil, and a pack of thread nippers. On top of that, picking it up at the show saved me the $90 that shipping would have cost me ordering it online. Got it set up a little bit ago and it runs smooth as glass. Between that and the edger I picked up it should improve my fit and finish.

Picked up a few Barry King and craftool stamps, a round edger from an amish maker here in Montana (Ron's Tool Company), some templates for projects that the kids picked out and a couple of refillable markers from Maker's Leather Supply, some dye, a belt tip punch from Weaver's, and some other odds an ends. Spent a small fortune but everything is well worth the investment.

Being able to see the tools in person and being able to test them out on leather scraps really helped make a decision in sizes and headed the pain of some of the costs.

^ Congrats John on the nice finds at good prices. Big shows like that are about the only way left to touch products and deal with people face to face in the midst of the sterile and impersonal internet age we all live in now. Combining the show visit with a family vacation sounds like a good value to me.

I look forward to hearing about how these new tools help improve your already great leatherwork Redmeadow Knives Redmeadow Knives

Thanks Phil, appreciate the kind words. Since the wife and I's birthdays are both in May we usually take a trip every year. The timing of the show worked out perfect to make a fun road trip out of it.

You're right about being able to deal with people face to face. It's nice to get a feel for how they treat their customers in person.. Everyine at Leather Machine Company has always been great to deal with and the guys from Barry King tools and Makers Leather Supply seemed absolute top notch as well. The folks at Ron's tool company left a good impression with both me and the wife. Though I could have found a cheaper edger I was more than happy to give them my money.

I'll keep you posted Phil of the progress and will try to post some pics over in the sub.

Ya know here's an example of the Leather Machine Co's service from just today. Having a little squeal on our NP 4 bell skiver after I sharpened it a week or so ago. Called to talk to Vince but Heather said he wouldn't be in for a couple of days yet. Oh still getting back from Sheridan? No but he got the rona at Sheridian so he's home sick. She says' hold for a minute and Dave comes on and gives me Vince's personal cell phone number and says call him at home he's taking calls. I tell Dave he ain't paying Vince enough! So I call and sure as heck Vince answer's and gets me squared away (just some oil in some not as obvious places) and we visit for like half an hour. Wow!

Let me know what ya think about the Ron's edger. I have heard really good things about them.

I have a 2, 3 and 4 Ron's edger and they are about all I have used for a lot of years. I have a few special ones in other brands for thin leather and tight turns but the Ron's excel at long straight lines. They are comfortable to use, easy to sharpen and stay sharp a long time.

With the little bit of fooling around I've done with it so far it's really smooth to use and looks like it will minimize sanding a lot if not completely. Came with a steel rod that matches the groove for sharpening. I got his round edger.
