I spent five delicate minutes with my 90 degree angle grinder this afternoon and narrowed the butt of my rod allen hanshee.
Here are some pics during mid-transformation.
Original, prototype, and modified prototype. I intend to stain the wood almost black and blue the fittings and maybe the blade.
(If I could find gun blue in japan)
Also, I put some bevels on the ends of all of my chakmas so they would stick better when I throw them as shuriken.

I havent sanded it or anything, just a bit of teak oil to stabilize it.

Danny that's quite a transformation!!!! :D IMO that looks much, much mo' betteh!!!! :D

Seeing your modification makes me think it would be very worthwhile to remove the handle, lengthen by cutting closer to the cho thereby getting rid of the cho creep and then shorten the tang back to its original length and cut off the flat area of the bolster. Then it would be very, very close to the original!!!! But since I'm not fond of skinny bladed khukuris I don't have to worry about this one.:D ;) ;) ;)

I would If I were in America, but I hardly have a patio as it is.
the rounded pommel feels much better to me as well.

I will sand her up nice and get some new pics out tomorrow if I can.

Considering that this might be the only one HI ever makes:

a. Might as well cut it up
b. Better preserve it as a piece of history
c. Drink mo Hienekin

Nice touch Danny! :) I like your improvement. I hope that more of these get made. I could have a lot of fun working over one of those. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to see the finished product.
