You’ve seen a pic or two. He’s a local dude, who i have the pleasure to call a friend, who been making knives for a couple years. He has started making slip joints recently. Initially, he made me a fixed blade from D2 that’s an awesome knife. You’ve all seen it. And thing is hard as it woodpecker lips.

Anyway, I asked him to make me a sister to it. Same wood, liners etc. After some convincing, he was leery to make one for a knife guy, he knocked it out of the park. What you see is it. A 3 7/8” closed (6 7/8” open) jewel. I’ll start with the action. The walk and talk is just perfection. Absolutely no play, dead center closed, perfect 7ish pull and as smooth as melted butter. It’s acacia wood with red micarta liners. 154CM blade and backspring and 416 liners. The liners are mill relieved. The backspring is perfect when open, and maybe just a shade low at half and closed. He already told me he knows what happened there lol. The spring to liner fit is just perfect. As is liner go spacer and to scale. He’s working on figuring shields and bolsters out now, and I’m already thinking about what I’m gonna ask him to build for me next.

Watch the future. If he’s stays at this, you’ll be seeing his name and knives drawing attention. Handle here is autogateman autogateman . Tell him Joey sent ya.
