I have been searching everywhere for info about a Chappel knife I own. If anyone can point me in the direction of someone who knows anything about this knifemaker I would be forever grateful

Are you by chance talking about Rod Chappel ?? if so he is real good people from washington state , ive handled his knives in person and after talking to him "Maker to Maker " believe the quality of them to be very good .

It is Rod Chappel. I am tryin to put a value on the knife I have. It is a Drake Hunter from 1982 Ser # 0006. I have had this knife since my father gave it to me 15 years ago. I have been looking everywhere and have found 1 similar blade from 1987 valued at around $500. Can you tell me of a place to look?

It also depends on handle material and fittings. A mint condition hunter with perfect walrus ivory and stainless fittings will command a much higher price and audience. If the knife comes with the original Jesse Smith sheath - even higher.

Chappel knives did not come with sheaths from at LEAST 1990-2000. Desireability, as is with most makers, is model dependent, and like previously stated, hunters are usually desired by die-hard collectors of Rod's work.
