rod chappel

He mostly faded into obscurity because he dicked so many potential customers over by taking deposits and not delivering.

He still makes knives, and has a shop in Marysville, WA, I think. I have a long and mostly positive history with Rod.

In '05 and '06 our (CRK's) table at the OKCA show in Eugene OR backed onto his and one of the highlights of both shows for me was talking with him for hours. He's a very fun man to hang out with.

You can contact Rod Chappel at (360)435-7195 Lone Eagle International
Arlington, WA He now has an outstanding apprentice. Rod has filled all of his backlog and can deliver in 6 months.

did he have a son that made knives for a short time?

He passed away in a tragic accident....Rod Jr., great kid!

William, I may know a little more about Roderick than you, he will probably never fill his backlog, as many owed deposits are probably out of the game. Next time you talk to him, ask him if Schmata knows what he speaks of, and ask about P.A. while you are at it.

That said, Rod makes great quality stuff, and always has a good story to tell.

I met the apprentice at a local show where Rod had a table...can't remember the apprentice's name. He certainly had some work that would have passed as Rod's own though. :)

While the tapered, light, quick, balanced, etc. goals I strive for with each knife drive me nowadays... I still love the big, heavy, clunky, but cool as hell Chappel designs. :)
