Hey guys,

So I just ordered the Muddy Rodent 3. I want to make sure that for EDC I didn't choose the wrong blade. Is there anyone that prefers the Rodent 3 over the Rodent Solutions -- and please let me know why. Thanks!

I like them both a lot, I have had a Custom Shop FFG Rodent 3 and a regular Rodent Solution pass through my hands. I think I like the handle better on the R3 and the blade better on the Rodent Solution, I know that doesn't help you much though..... :)

Actually it does! My biggest concern is the handle. I like the size and I like the blade length/shape -- I was just worried that there wasn't room for 4 fingers.

I prefer the solution over the R3. Just because of the handle really. Very comfortable.

There really isn't room for four fingers for most people, without choking up a little anyways. I liked the handle mostly because of the small size of it, would make a good pocket carry knife.

I can only get 3 fingers on the R3, but i can get a solid 4 finger grip with the solution.

Well guys -- I appreciate the input. I went ahead and changed the order to the Rodent Solution. I'm feeling settled and content now :)

Solution all day everyday not even close imo. The R3 would be a fantastic knife for a concealed carry edc type fixed blade but for real work you really cant beat the RS.

Depends on what you consider EDC. The R3 is much more "pocketable", and is significantly lighter. However, the side affect of those two things is the shorter and less comfortable handle, and the shorter blade.

If you're looking to belt carry, the RS is probably the better choice. R3 wins for pocket carry.

There were some good comparison pictures in the "R3 for EDC" thread a little ways down the page.

Oh I know -- I'm quite familiar I read and saw the pics you posted 50 times before I decided to make the change. I got it with Desert Sage/ Tan Canvas Micarta to go with a Desert Tan Paw Paw sheath that I'm having made for it. I have a black on black ratmandu CG inbound accompanying the Solution.

The obvious answer I forgot to mention was "Buy Both!" ;)

ETA: They are both excellent blades though. If I was forced to choose between them, I'd go with the RS. I love that little knife!!! I use it ALL the time, especially when I'm out small game hunting or fishing. It's probably my most used Rat, and I think one of the most practical for day-to-day usage. If I lived on a large piece of property or out in the boonies, the RMD might be a better choice.

You can't go wrong with either, It all comes down to what you like. I am sure that you will fall in love with the Rodent Solution.
