Greetings all,

I know the RMD is a very well thought of blade, and with good reason...overall, its a very solid mid-size camp/field knife. I had one for a short time...it seemed like a good knife, but for me, it just didn't really 'wow' me.

I recently aquired a Rodent 6, in this case a custom shop Rodent 6, sans top guard. Basically a slightly larger blade. What really jumps out at you right off the bat is the blade thickness, a whopping .265" thick. And that's packed onto a 6 3/8th inch Saber ground blade. Considerably beefier than the RMD. And where the RMD was 'good,' the R6 is, IMHO, considerably more knife. And it has outstanding ergos that feel extremely comfortable in the hand. So if you liked the RMD, but would like a significant upgrade in strength, take a look at it. It's simialr too, and considerably more wallet friendly, than the Team Gemini if you keep the upper guard. If you have the upper guard removed, you've got an RMD on steriods.

So its definitely worth a look...

Cheers,
BOSS

Glad you like it.

R6 w/ top guard gone is appealing.

I'm a RMD fan. Especially the satin FFG variety.

So, my unused R6 (standard version) may go to a new home someday. IDK

Looking good. Would be great to see some side by side comparison pics with the RMD. Anyone got both?

Great looking knife! I have the regular version and love it. The double guard doesn't bother me and I've always liked the way they look. But a red/black G10 with muddy blade and no guard may be in my future after seeing yours.

Stock R6 with some company:

Nice collection of Rats! That Black and Blue Custom Rodent 6 is pretty sweet too

I really want one like that... is swamprat planning on making them available without the top guard?
