I'm posting this here since the Rodent 9 was offered through the AlaskaGanza.

The specs of the Rodent 9 don't say whether the edge is convexed or not?

Any insight on this Eric or Jerry?

This was in the ad when it was listed on the Scrap Yard site.

The Rodent 9 is the first of the Rodent '11 Series to be offered. Featuring a 9 1/2" long blade of SR-101 steel with our new and exclusive Ultra Convex Bevel the Rodent 9 has proven to be a very effective chopper and all around great camp knife. Our new Ultra Convex Bevel delivers the toughness and strength benefits of a convex grind coupled with the overall superior cutting geometry of a near full-height flat grind. Our Ultra Convex bevel is a mere 1 degree off flat, CNC bevel, that rises to within less than 5/16" from the spine. Killer strength combined with superior cutting geometry is what the new Ultra Convex bevel is all about. Specs: Blade Length: 9 1/2" OAL: 15 1/4" Steel: SR-101 Hardness: 58-60 RC Thickness: 1/4" Handles: Black Canvas Micarta Blade Width: 1 5/8" Grind: Ultra Convex Saber Bevel

Yeah, I've seen those specs. Thanks for posting em. I don't see anything about the edge though.

I'm staring at the edge right now, though without benefit of a magnifier.

Sure looks and feels convex to me (the edge). Mine came nice and sharp.

DRodent done told you

You had better "run some tests," to quote the old joke about Doctors. I think scientists qualify, too.

Could be!

Perhaps I could cut a thin piece of copper sheath, then run a scan with a SEM. That would do the job, for sure!

Hey all,

Sorry for the noob question on convex edges but, how would one going about sharpening this blade, the convex edge is really raising questions on if I should get the rodent, Id love it for outdoor chores, I can sharpen my junglas and rtak2 just fine, Im not sure what I'd need to maintain the edge.

Regards,
Jack

Well after more research I've a found my own answers, the question I have to anyone willing to help is, when the rodent 9 eventually needs to be sharpened, could I use my spyderco sharpmaker to slowy convert the convex edge into the V edge? Or would a Diamond rod work too?

Regards,

Jack
