Send it in to Swamp Rat and have them re sharpen it for ya.

With a belt sander, if you are getting rounded tips, that usually means you are either running off the edge of the belt with the tip or you are using too much pressure on the tip. Just lighten up with the pressure when you get towards the tip and don't run all the way off the belt, stop halfway on the belt and just pull the blade off.

Been there done that, the above is good advice ^^^^^ :)

I agree with sintro and leatherman. There have been others who reported the same problem. The tip has to be handled gently near any belt.

thanks guy tried less pressure and halfway its still rounding though this starting to piss me off

It might be difficult since you've already done the damage, but what the other guys said is pretty accurate. If you drag the tip too far, the belts aren't rigid enough (against applied pressure) and will begin to curl around it, blunting the tip. I'm not sure you'll be able to fix what's already been done, but maybe some one with a bit more knowledge will come along shortly...

Hello Zach225a,

The advice provided here by other members is good. A rounded tip can indeed be fixed and then maintained.
Stopping the blade on the belt as you power down the tool is the key.
There is another thread here on Blade Forum where UnknownVT provides a wealth of content and detail on this very topic.
Take a look at this thread to learn more: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...rinder)-Knife-Sharpener/page4?highlight=WSKTS

Feel free to contact me directly, I am confident we can get that tip back onto your blade and get you the results you expect.
